Playtime Timer App Reviews

The set of timer is not automatic.

App functions only as a simple count-down timer that must be manually started and stopped for the child. Other reviews suggested that it would automatically pause when the device was idle or asleep, but I have confirmed with company that this is not the case (they say theyre working on it) Software is not quite ready for prime time. E.g.: -Sometime you have to press the back button at the top left to save, in other places that will discard your changes -“Time played today” doesn’t always register and resets for no clear reason -Every time you touch an alarm (turn on, turn off, edit, rename, etc.) you have to reenter your passcode - why not just enter your passcode once when you open the app? -Alarm keeps getting louder, even if you turn volume off, and there’s no way to turn it off other than entering the passcode. Why is this alarm necessary if the device is already disabled? -When the alarm rings, if you touch the device without entering the passcode, it may get stuck in a loop where it will no longer permit you to enter a passcode and just keeps representing the pop-up alert (all the while the alarm getting louder and louder). -Sometimes it tells you that you can’t edit an alarm that’s already been used (why not? And, of course, that’s only after it asks you to enter your passcode again). After following the setting and notification recommendations, we tried this out. Worked great until we closed the iPad cover (which puts the iPad to sleep). The timer kept running. Alarm went off on-schedule while iPad was asleep, just as if we had been using it the whole time.

This is a terrible app. It rings an alarm and the alarm doesnt shut off. Very annoying. My daughter was saving her time with the iPad off and the timer continued to run. Dont waste your money.

Doesnt work. At all.

Unable to kill sound alert and have a banner pop up.. Which would also make iPad unusable to child, so you will have to be involved in shutting off alarm. Any child can/will figure out that you only need to take a few seconds to turn off and on device to disable this app and continue using iPad. Save yourselves $1, use the timer/alarm that comes on the iPad and have consequences if they do not put it down this app does little more than that.

This app is a waste of $$$. You can achieve the same thing by setting the timer in the clock settings. It will not keep you kids from using the device once their time is up.

I just bought this and it wont open

The app does not do what it advertised. By disruption, the app just annoyingly sounds off (like an alarm goes off) and nothing else special like locking the apps or screen. Cant believe Apple even allows someone to sell this on the App Store. Very disappointed.

It seems that the developer changed the app and removed the most important features, otherwise I would have to call jingb and Abbott (most helpful reviewers #1 and #2) liars. It does not let the kid pause the timer and save the remaining time for later. So if the timer is set for one hour starting at 3pm, it will disable the iPad at 4pm even if kids didnt touch the iPad. Most people are rightfully disappointed because they were looking for an app that lets them set a time limit, not a rigid schedule. Waste of $0.99

There are a few reviews that state that you can pause the timer and others that you cannot. For those of you who can, can you please let me know how? Thanks. If I can get the pause function to work Ill change my rating.
