Playtime Timer App Reviews

Possibly not what Im looking for

I have four kids, & prefer to manage the timers on my phone. Problems are: 1. When one alarm goes off, it doesnt tell me which one, so after I turn off the alarm, I have to go into each profile to find which childs time expired. 2. When asked for the password, the password is displayed, instead of ****. 3. It would be really nice if I could recycle a timer instead of having to delete it, enter the passcode, & create a new timer. Or at least give the option of automatically deleting the used alarms, since the password already has to be entered to turn off the alarm. Or maybe the option of deleting multiple alarms at once instead of having to enter the password with each alarm deletion. 4. Finally, today I got the message, "Time already exists for selected date or you tried to add timer in the past." I often have a couple timers running simultaneously, so I dont know why this came up today? But since it wont let me add an alarm, the app is fairly useless to me. Perhaps it is very useful to parents if it is installed on the childrens devices, but for children on the autism spectrum, to have their play suddenly cut off without any warning, is very upsetting. I prefer to hold the time reigns and give them a 1 or 2 minute warning to wrap up.

Great concept...

Love the concept, def a needed app sadly it doesnt work. Ive submitted my feedback, Ill come back and revise my feedback if they fix it. My biggest problem is that all you have to do to nullify the timer is to leave the timer screen...and since Im assuming my kid isnt going to be playing the timer, I dont see the point at all.

9 year old figured out how to keep playing

Sorry , but my 9 year old is able to close the app and keep playing on the iPad after the time is up. The alarm will come on again after a few minutes he just cancels it again and keeps playing. Hes got this app beat unfortunately.

Crashes at startup

The description implies that this app is compatible with all devices. It does not load on our iOS 6.1.6 iPhone 3GS. Waste of money.

Great buy

This app is a must have if you have children that own Apple devices and want to manage their play/use time. Highly recommended for parents to download this! Very useful app. The app works perfectly fine for me with no issues.

Finally!!!

I am so happy that this app exists! As a mom Im concerned with how much time my kids spend on the devices.

Does exactly what it should

This works similar to the large mobile device managers that schools use for their idevices. with the added benefit of web filtering and time restrictions. I used the web site to signup for an account.

Sweet little app!

It was slow at first. about a minute. but the account was created. After that I signed in on the app. visited the setup web page on my kids device, and all is working well. Took my kids device about a minute to process the settings, then it started the VPN and showed up for management.

Great!

Very handy..my 6 year old keeps using the device n I have been looking to monitor the time

Love the focus this brings at

Sad there are bunch of donkeys who fail to follow directions or goof up then jump online to offer nasty reviews. This thing is alright. Nice feature to include would be name for different users, like multiple children or some feature to keep different timer log. Thanks for the work!

Great, if one follows directions... Sets limits like it says

As a parent and at work i use this to remind me to stay focused on working. Thanks for e information on changing the notification in the settings. Also wish apple would allow you to block The iPod more, but great work on the idea.

Dont waste your time

Cant change time limit for each child...it just records duration of play.

Great App

Given the fact that iOS doesnt let you completely lock the device, I think this app does provide a reasonable solution by annoying the kid after the time limit expires.

Not bad

Contrary to most of the other reviews. this is the only app that I found that allows mr to limit my sons time on his iPad. It is simple to set up ans use. Granted. it does not "turn off the device. but the ‘annoince’ factor of the continual pop ups ans sounds make the device virtually unusable.

Control the time of day

This app let the parent control the time of day that the device can operate (i.e. can use only between set hours).

Perfect for my 10 and 6 year old

The cool thing about it is that the kid controls when the timer is going. but they cant play any of the games on there without the timer going. So, the parent sets the limit, but the kid can learn to ration out that time. rather than playing their whole hour in the morning and having no time left the rest of the day. This app is just what I was looking for. There is definitely room for some improvements, but since the developer is open to suggestions, Im still going to give this a 5 star.

I love it.

The ability for the parent to exclude specific apps. For instance. you could exclude the music player.

set "black-out‘ hours

The ability for the parent be able to set "black-out‘ hours. So, we could program in their bedtime. and regardless of how much time was left on the clock. they would not be able to play when they were supposed to be asleep. The same setting would work nicely for blocking out school hours.

Very good

It works very good with my iPhone 6 without any problems. Im happy.

Good App for My Kids

I also love that they have to bring the iPod to me to reset each day. It also has a 5 min warning. No more "let me just finish this.‘ Im giving this such a great review despite the work arounds other reviewers have mentioned. The fact is, this app cant work magic! It cant do things that apple wont allow apps to do. While it bothers me that Apple wont allow REAL parent controls. this app does in fact work for me. It works well on my iPod. iPad and iPhone. I would recommend that the developed add two things. A running talley of hours used and an option to let us add leftover time from the day before if we wanted to. Love this app! Its the "working app Ive found that lets me set an amount of time for the whole day and lets the kids pause so they can save their time for later.
